Interactive Tire Size & Rim Fitment Calculator
Compare tire dimensions, overall diameter difference %, fender poke, and speedometer variance.
Stock / Original Setup
New / Target Setup
Direct answer: When changing tire sizes or wheel rim diameter, your new setup should stay within ±3.0% of the original factory overall diameter. Deviations greater than 3% cause noticeable speedometer error, potential ABS/traction control malfunctions, and suspension clearance rubbing issues. Use the interactive calculator above to check diameter variance, fender clearance (poke vs inset), and speedometer error for any vehicle setup.

| Civic EX / Sport | 215/50R17 | 17x7.0" | +45 mm | 5x114.3 | 64.1 mm |
| Civic Touring / Si | 235/40R18 | 18x8.0" | +50 mm | 5x114.3 | 64.1 mm |
| Civic Type R (FK8/FL5) | 265/30R19 | 19x9.5" | +60 mm | 5x120 (FK8) / 5x120 (FL5) | 64.1 mm |
Key Wheel Fitment Terms Explained
Primary sources: Transport Canada: Defects and recalls.
- Overall Diameter: The total height of the wheel and inflated tire combined. Staying within ±3% of factory spec ensures your transmission shift points and speedometer remain accurate.
- Wheel Offset (ET): The distance from the wheel hub mounting surface to the centerline of the rim. A lower ET number (e.g. +35mm vs +45mm) pushes the wheel outward towards the fender (Poke). A higher ET pulls the wheel inward towards the suspension struts (Inset).
- Bolt Pattern (PCD): The number of lug holes and the pitch circle diameter (e.g. 5x114.3 means 5 lugs on a 114.3mm circle). Honda Civics use 5x114.3 for standard models.
- Hub Center Bore: The center hole diameter that fits over the vehicle hub. Standard Honda Civic hub bore is 64.1 mm. Aftermarket wheels with larger bores require hub-centric rings for vibration-free mounting.
Methodology and Limitations
Calculations adhere to Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations and Tire and Rim Association (TRA) dimensional standards. This calculator provides mathematical fitment comparisons; always physically verify strut, brake caliper, and fender liner clearance prior to driving on new aftermarket wheel combinations.
